CivicView software will facilitate the recent agreement to transfer of Gloucester Shire Council water and sewerage services to MidCoast Water.

In effort to optimise water-related services for Gloucester residents, all operations including infrastructure and planning previously managed by the Shire Council is currently being transferred to MidCoast Water.

Water billing and payment services – including an online payment gateway for over 2,000 water customers across Gloucester Shire will be facilitated by CivicView – the enterprise management system underpinning operations at MidCoast Water since 1998.

CivicView and MidCoast Water will also facilitate management of water-related assets, infrastructure and planning across Gloucester Shire, including two rainwater harvesting systems.

Data from Gloucester Shire Councils’ Authority system is currently being converted to CivicView to facilitate the expansion of services at MidCoast Water.

Relevant residential, mapping and financial data for an additional 2,000 water customers across Gloucester Shire is being transferred and converted to facilitate all billing, notification, payment, asset and financial management facilities for water customers via CivicView.

“While we’ve performed conversions from Civica before, this process is a bit different, since we’re transferring data into a ‘live’ system with existing records, but the information is coming across with no issue” said CivicView’s Campbell Petterson, who has been on site to performing conversion services at MidCoast Water.

MidCoast Water already services over 35,000 water customers across New South Wales’ Mid-North Coast performing all asset, customer services, notifications, payment and billing processes.

“Since 1998, CivicView has continued to tighten operations at MidCoast Water. The reliable data entry and administration efficiencies in particular, are critical time-savers for our business. CivicView helps us to reliably issue over 1,000 bills per day on time, every time,” said MidCoast Water General Manager, Neil Hanington.

The agreement and transfer of assets between the two councils has been made in response to a recent local government inquiry into water and sewerage services across regional NSW.  Dissected by a number of important river systems, Gloucester Shire covers a region of almost 3,000 km2 and over 5,000 residents.

“We’re working with CivicView in the background to ensure the transition of services for customers and staff is seamless,“ said Hanington.

“Once complete, the conversion and acquisition of these services will deliver improvements in customer services, greater access to technical expertise and more regionalised water planning and management across the Shire,” he said.

“The strength of CivicView has allowed us to confidently adopt over 2,000 new customers and services without concern. The system is robust and flexible - for 13 years CivicView has successfully facilitate new initiatives and growth at MidCoast Water,” said Hanington.

The data conversion is on track to be complete in time to facilitate the transition of services between Gloucester Shire and MidCoast Water in the new financial year.
