Jerilderie Shire Council has gone live with CivicView, a fully-integrated council management solution from local developer, Insight Informatics based in Brisbane.
Within four months of selecting CivicView, the NSW-based council successfully commenced the new financial year using the solution, implementing payroll, rates and financial management processes council-wide.
“We knew it was a big task, but we wanted to perform the first run of Rates Notices for the 2010/2011 Financial Year on the selected system,” said Vicki Sutton, Council’s Manager of Corporate & Community Services.
“From the very beginning, the CivicView team was approachable, flexible and supportive of our requirements, giving us confidence in our decision.”
Working closely with Council staff in the lead up to the “go-live” milestone, CivicView consultants, technical and training staff travelled to Jerilderie to perform on-site services, supplemented remotely by a team in Brisbane.
“We’re very pleased with the results of the implementation. Everything’s remained on time and on target to make the transition to CivicView at Jerilderie Shire Council as straightforward as possible,” said CivicView’s Project Manager Hodgkin.
The milestone marks the end of an extensive, 12-month evaluation of alternatives at Jerilderie to replace the council’s old Fujitsu system. A review of functionality, price, reputation and support services lead to Jerilderie’s final decision to select CivicView.
“We wanted immediate gains in functionality over the old system, but we also needed to consider what solution would continue to support long-term strategy. For that, we needed a very supportive and experienced technology partner,” said Sutton who was part of the final decision-committee.
“I think the fact that we’ve been successful with the initial stages of the implementation is a testament to the fact we’ve made the right decision with CivicView,” she said.
The positive results at Jerilderie influenced neighbouring Deniliquin Shire Council to also purchase CivicView, with implementation kicking off next week. More recently, Coonamble Shire Council has also selected CivicView to integrate customer services, human resources and payroll, document management and financial management processes council-wide.
Developed in association with Australian local government, CivicView is used at organisations of all size to integrate and council business processes and information systems. The solution has support customers for more than 10 years.
“It’s great to have Jerilderie Shire Council officially on board,” Said CivicView’s Ben Cronin.
“With a number of CivicView councils across New South Wales and customers in the Murray region, we look forward to working closely with the Council to make sure they continue to hit targets,” he said.
